MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia coach
Neal Brown gave the media a tour of the recently renovated Milan Puskar Center, home to Mountaineer football.
The $55 million project was completed earlier this summer.
"I'm very, very proud of this facility," Brown said. "It's got flash, it's got functionality and it was renovated for a couple of different reasons. One, for our current players because they deserve it. Two, for recruiting because that's our future and, three, as a source of pride for our players and coaches."
Brown continued, "I want to thank President (Gordon) Gee and his entire staff down at Stewart Hall, the Board of Governors because they made the decision to allow this project to proceed through the pandemic and to
Shane Lyons,
Keli Zinn and the athletics department for helping make this vision come true."
Brown said there have already been three big emotional moments for him since the beautiful, new facility became operational.
"First of all, coach (Don) Nehlen came and we were able to show him around back in the spring and he was one of the first persons to see it before all of the finishing touches were made," Brown began. "He was really excited to see his display in the Hall of Traditions and that was moving.
"Then, we had our first recruiting weekend and that's a whole different deal than our last one 15 months ago when people were last allowed on campus. Last week, Bill Stewart's wife (Karen) and his son (Blaine) were able to come over here and tour the facility and that was neat."
Overall, Brown believes the new improvements put West Virginia's football complex in line with any facility in the country and has already been a big boost to recruiting.
Below are some camera phone clips of Brown taking media through different areas of the Puskar Center, beginning with the Hall of Traditions and continuing to the player area on the ground floor. The tour concludes with the second floor where the Hall of Traditions, coach and staff offices, team meeting rooms and academic support areas are located.
Another tour of the new facility with WVU Director of Athletics
Shane Lyons and
Tony Caridi will be posted later this month.
