WVU’s Davis Makes SportsCenter Top Ten Twice Last Week
May 18, 2021 10:24 AM | Baseball, Blog
The Orlando, Florida, resident appeared on the show's Top Ten list twice last week for his great catches in a pair of non-conference victories over Marshall and Miami, Ohio.
Davis' diving grab in the right center field gap in West Virginia's 4-1 midweek victory over Marshall last Wednesday earned him the No. 2 play of the day, and two nights later he did it again against Miami, Ohio.
This time he took off on a dead sprint toward the right field line and left his feet to make another diving grab, robbing Miami's Stephen Krause of extra bases in the Mountaineers' 7-6 triumph.
His amazing putout checked in at No. 3 on Friday's best plays of the day.
And not only has his glove work been impressive, but Davis is also doing it at the plate this year as well. He has eight multi-hit games in his last 12 to boost his batting average to a team-best .316 heading into this weekend's regular-season-concluding three game series at No. 2 Texas.
West Virginia (23-24) is riding a season-long five game winning streak with consecutive victories over Marshall, Miami, Ohio and Dayton.
The 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championships will be taking place May 25-30 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
