CBS Sports’ Parrish High on Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – You can add CBS Sports college basketball writer Gary Parrish to the list of those touting West Virginia in 2020-21.
Parrish has the Mountaineers ranked No. 12 in his Updated Preseason Top 25, posted yesterday.
This is what Parrish had to say about WVU, "The Mountaineers collapsed down the stretch and lost six of their final nine games, but they still finished 10th at KenPom, which suggests they were better than their record. Now West Virginia is expected to return the top three players from that team – most notably Oscar Tshiebwe, who averaged 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 55.2% from the field as a freshman. So Bob Huggins will enter next season with an accomplished roster good enough to compete for a Big 12 title."
Parrish is also high on several other Big 12 teams.
He has Baylor, with its top three scorers returning from last year, ranked No. 2. Kansas comes in at No. 6 despite the loss of guard Devon Dotson to the NBA Draft, Texas checks in at No. 17 with more five-star reinforcements coming in the form of freshman power forward Greg Brown, while Texas Tech is ranked 18th.
The Red Raiders have compensated for the loss of their top two scorers, Jahmi'us Ramsey and Davide Moretti, with a top 15-rated recruiting class that also includes VCU grad-transfer Marcus Santos-Silva and Georgetown's Mac McClung.
Oklahoma State is not in Parrish's Updated Preseason Top 25 but the Cowboys will be welcoming the No. 1-rated recruit in the country this year in 6-foot-7, 215-pound Cade Cunningham of Arlington, Texas.
The Longhorns' Brown checks in at No. 9 in the ESPN.com Top 100, followed by Texas Tech's Nimari Burnett at No. 22.
Here are the rest of the Big 12's top incoming prospects, according to ESPN.com:
29. Bryce Thompson, SG, Kansas
36. Micah Peavy, SF, Texas Tech
52. Dain Dainja, PF, Baylor
55. Rondel Walker, PG, Oklahoma State
66. L.J. Cryer, PG, Baylor
67. Xavier Foster, C, Iowa State
75. Isaiah Cottrell, C, West Virginia
90. Nijel Pack, PG, Kansas State
92. Terren Frank, PF, TCU
