MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Hall of Famer Jerry West celebrated his 82
nd birthday yesterday. The 14-time NBA All-Star averaged 27 points per game and helped the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title in 1972.
As an executive, he was part of eight NBA championship teams with the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
The two-time WVU All-American guard scored a school-record 2,309 career points in just three varsity seasons for the Mountaineers, leading WVU to the NCAA championship game in 1959.
