Mountaineers Move to No. 3

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team drops one position to No. 3 in this week's College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Rankings.
This week's rankings are based on NCAA Team Selection Rankings, which are comprised of a squad's top-three scores earned at three different venues. The Mountaineers (8-0, 7-0 GARC) claim an average of 4717.67.
Kentucky (4720.33) ranks No. 1, and TCU (4718.33) ranks No. 2. Akron (4682) sits behind WVU at No. 4, and Air Force (4681.33) ranks No. 5.
Memphis (4675) comes in at No. 6, and Nebraska and Ole Miss are tied at No. 7 (4674.33). Navy (4672) checks-in at No. 9, while Army (4671.67) rounds out the top 10.
West Virginia most recently opened its spring season on Sunday with a 4683-4648 win over Army at the Bill McKenzie Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building. The Mountaineers swept the Black Knights in both disciples, winning smallbore, 2316-2306, and air rifle, 2367-2342.
Looking ahead, West Virginia heads to Columbus, Ohio, for a shoulder-to-shoulder match against No. 13 Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 1. The contest is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET, inside the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range.
