WVU Set for First-Round Matchup vs. Kansas State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 10th-seeded West Virginia University tennis team (10-11, 0-9 Big 12) travels to Lawrence, Kansas, on Thursday, April 18, to square off against Kansas State in the first round of the 2019 Big 12 Women's Tennis Tournament.
Thursday's contest against the Wildcats will take place at the Jayhawk Tennis Center, with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. ET. Fans can follow the action against K-State via StatBroadcast and also can watch Thursday's match from the Big 12 Tournament live stream.
"We are looking forward to the rematch against Kansas State," said coach Miha Lisac. "This tournament is where everyone will be at their best, and we will be ready for the match tomorrow."
Entering Thursday's match, WVU has yet to record a win over KSU. On April 5, the Mountaineers fell to the Wildcats, 7-0, on the road. K-State enters the first round as the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season with 12-10 record, including a 2-7 record in Big 12 play. After picking up its second conference win on April 7, vs. Iowa State, Kansas State ended the season with a 7-0 loss to No. 20 Kansas in Lawrence.
Last season, the Mountaineers entered the tournament as the No. 9-seeded team. In the opening round of last year's tournament, WVU fell to No. 8 TCU, 5-1. Junior Sofia Duran collected the Mountaineers' lone win in the loss, defeating TCU's Meredith Roberts, 6-4, 6-3.
NOTES: West Virginia owns a 121-118 record against 2019 opponents ... sophomore Anne-Sophie Courteau leads the team in singles wins (12) and total wins (22) ... Courteau and senior Abigail Rosiello are tied for the team lead with 10 doubles victories.
