MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior
Ginny Thrasher of the West Virginia University rifle team finished third in the women's 10m air rifle at the USA Shooting Rifle/Pistol Spring Selection Match today at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Georgia.
The Springfield, Virginia, native clinched her podium finish with a score of 2500.3. Thrasher shot 624.5 yesterday and finished first in the final, earning 4.0 extra points. She shot 619.7 today, putting her today-day total at 1248.2.
Combined with her 1,252.1 total from the 2018 USA Winter Airgun Championships, Thrasher's total of 2500.3 earns her a position on the United States' team for the 2019 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cups in Beijing and Munich.
Sophomore
Sarah Osborn finished 14th overall with a total of 2473.4. The Hampton, Virginia, native shot 616.0 on Wednesday and 613.7 today for a two-day mark of 1229.7. She shot 1243.7 at the Winter Airgun Championships.
The women's 50m rifle 3 positions competition opens tomorrow and concludes on Saturday, March 30. Junior
Morgan Phillips will shoot alongside Thrasher and Osborn.
