MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Morgan Bullock of the West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.
Bullock earned a 29th-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.37. A total of 50 women swam in the event, with the top-16 times earning spots at Saturday's finals session. The top-eight performances earned bids to the event's championship final.
"It was a good week for Morgan," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "She had a strong 200 today, and I think we will all come away with some good lessons to help her improve for next year."
Saturday marked the end for Bullock's second career appearance at the NCAA Championships. Along with her performance in the 200 butterfly, she also earned a 54th-place finish in the 200 individual medley on Thursday and a 57th-place finish in the 100 butterfly on Friday. Bullock recorded times of 1:59.92 and 54.86, respectively, in the two events.
Bullock became the first Mountaineer woman to qualify for back-to-back national meets since Rachael Burnett and Mandie Nugent in 2013. A total of 281 swimmers and 41 divers competed at this year's event.
Next up, senior Jake Armstrong and sophomore David Dixon compete in the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, from March 27-30, in Austin.
