MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Morgan Bullock of the West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team swam in the 100 butterfly at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, on Friday morning, in Austin, Texas.
Bullock placed 57th overall with a time of 53.86 in the event's preliminary heats at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. A total of 59 women swam in the event, with the top-16 times earning spots at Friday's finals session. The top-eight performances earned bids to the event's championship final.
"It was a nice swim for Morgan today," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "She had a really strong first 50 yards, and she raced well to the finish. It was just a bit off her personal best and her prelims time from Big 12s. Morgan is racing well and looking forward to tomorrow's 200 fly."
The Zeeland, Michigan, native began her second career NCAA Women's Championships appearance with a 54th-place finish in the 200 individual medley on Thursday. Bullock earned a time of 1:59.92 in the event.
The 2018 honorable mention All-American concludes action in Austin with Saturday's 200 butterfly. Bullock enters the event with a top time of 1:55.25, from the 2019 Big 12 Championship, a mark that is good for No. 24 nationally entering the event. Preliminaries are set to begin at 10 a.m. ET, with the finals session scheduled for 6 p.m.
Last year, Bullock finished 15th overall in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.77 at the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio, earning honorable mention All-America status. The performance marked WVU's first women's All-American since 2013.
ESPN will provide live coverage for Saturday's finals session on ESPNU. A live stream for preliminaries also is available at texassports.com. For live results, fans can follow along on sidearmstats.com.
