Bullock Travels to NCAA Women’s Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Morgan Bullock of the West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team competes at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, from March 21-23, at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, in Austin, Texas.
Bullock qualified to compete in the 200 butterfly with her top time of 1:55.25, from the 2019 Big 12 Championship, on Feb. 23. The Zeeland, Michigan, native also will compete in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley at the meet after earning NCAA 'B' cut times in the events during the 2018-19 season.
ESPN will provide live coverage for Friday and Saturday's finals sessions on ESPNU. Fans also will be able to live stream the event on ESPN3 for Wednesday and Thursday's finals sessions. Events not streamed by ESPN will be available to watch at texassports.com. Preliminary sessions for all three days will begin at 10 a.m. ET, with finals set for 6 p.m.

"It's always an honor to make it to this meet, and we're all very happy for Morgan," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "She has trained well over the last few weeks. Now, it's time to have fun and race."
Bullock begins her championship weekend with the 200 IM on Thursday morning, before swimming in the 100 fly on Friday. Bullock will compete in the 200 fly, an event she enters ranked No. 24 in the nation, on Saturday.
Bullock is among a total of 281 swimmers and 41 divers who are competing at this year's NCAA Women's Championships. The 2018 honorable mention All-American becomes the first Mountaineer woman to qualify for back-to-back national meets since Rachael Burnett and Mandie Nugent in 2013.
This season, Bullock earned two silver and four bronze medals at the 2019 Big 12 Championship, from Feb.27-March 2, in Austin. Individually, she placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.25, and third in the 100 fly (53.09) and 200 IM (1:58.96).
She also helped the 400 medley relay team to a silver medal, as well as the 200 and 800 freestyle relays to bronze medals. The 200 free relay team, which also was comprised of junior Julia Nilton, sophomore Giselle Gursoy and freshman Emma Bliss, broke the school record with a time of 1:31.45.
In her NCAA Championships debut last season in Columbus, Ohio, Bullock placed 15th overall in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.77, earning honorable mention All-America status. The performance marked WVU's first women's All-American since 2013.
Additionally, Bullock placed 40th in the 200 IM (1:58.44) and 44th in the 100 fly (53.53) at the NCAA meet in 2018.
Bullock is one of WVU's three national qualifiers, joining senior Jake Armstrong and sophomore David Dixon of the men's team. Armstrong and Dixon will compete in the NCAA Men's Championships, from March 28-30, in Austin.
