MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After scoring a golden goal in double overtime to knock off first-place Texas, sophomore midfielder
Addison Clark of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
With the match tied 1-1 in the 103rd minute, Clark collected a rebound off a blocked shot by teammate
Nicole Payne at the top of the box and sent a ball just inside the left post give the Mountaineers the 2-1 win.
The score was the first game-winning goal of Clark's career. She now has two goals this season and has put the ball in net three times in her career.
The Mountaineers split the weekend, falling to Baylor 4-2 on Thursday, Oct. 3, and defeating the Longhorns 2-1 on Sunday.
This Week in Women's Soccer: West Virginia (7-4-1, 2-1-0) will open a three-match conference homestand with a match against No. 18 Texas Tech on Thursday, Oct. 10 … first kick at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET … WVU will host its annual Soctober Fest on Thursday, and the first 200 fans will receive a WVU koozie … there also will be a variety of Oktoberfest-themed food options offered at the concessions stands throughout the contest.
