
Vault, Floor Lineups Nationally Ranked

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following three weeks of competition, the West Virginia University gymnastics team sits in the top 20 of the Road to Nationals Rankings on vault and floor exercise.
The Mountaineers (6-2, 0-1) rank No. 12 on floor with a 49.058 season average and No. 14 on vault with a 48.95 season average. Additionally, WVU continues to sit just outside the top 25 overall, as the Mountaineers remain steady at No. 26 with a 194.8 average.
Senior Kirah Koshinski is nationally ranked on two events, checking in at No. 8 on vault (9.892 avg.) and No. 18 on floor (9.892 avg.). A native of Berwick, Pennsylvania, Koshinski jumped 11 spots on vault this week after scoring a career-best matching 9.95 in an event win at Air Force on Jan. 19.
Senior Jaquie Tun also is nationally ranked on floor and sits at No. 42 with a 9.858 average.
Regionally, the Mountaineers rank No. 3 in the Southeast. WVU also ranks No. 3 on vault, No. 4 on floor, No. 5 on balance beam (48.55 avg.) and No. 7 on uneven bars (48.242 avg.).
Koshinski owns WVU's top regional ranking and sits at No. 2 on vault. Tun ranks No. 10 (9.808 avg.) and is followed by junior Julia Merwin at No. 19 (9.767 avg.) and freshman Rachel Hornung at No. 25 (9.725 avg.).
Koshinski and Tun rank No. 6 and No. 12, respectively, on floor. Sophomore McKenna Linnen follows at No. 23 (9.783 avg.).
A pair of freshmen represent the Mountaineers on bars and beam. Esperanza Abarca ranks No. 14 on bars (9.8 avg.), and Hornung sits at No. 14 on beam (9.775 avg.).
Junior Abby Kaufman ranks No. 10 in the all-around (38.667 avg.), and Hornung and Koshinski follow at No. 11 (38.6 avg.) and No. 16 (38.25 avg.).
The Mountaineers continue to rank No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference. WVU also ranks No. 3 on each event but bars, where WVU sits at No. 4.
Koshinski ranks No. 3 on vault and No. 4 on floor, with Tun following at No. 8. A trio of Mountaineers is ranked in the all-around: No. 7 Kaufman, No. 8 Hornung and No. 10 Koshinski.
The Mountaineers open their 2019 home season at the WVU Coliseum this weekend, playing host to George Washington and Kent State on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. It's Daddy-Daughter Day, and a brunch of donuts, coffee and juice will be provided to fans. Additionally, it's Mountaineer Kids Club Day, and all members of the Mountaineer Kids Club can pick-up their t-shirt and pillow case at the WVU Coliseum Gold Gate. Mr. Twister will be in attendance, and a poster-making station will be available. The Mountaineers will meet with fans at Chalk Talk following the competition to sign posters.
Tickets for the 2019 WVU gymnastics season are on sale now at WVUGAME.com. When purchasing tickets in advance online, tickets are $5 each and $3 for groups of 10 or more. All tickets are general admission.
Tickets purchased at the Mountaineer Ticket Office inside the WVU Coliseum on the day of competition will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups. The discounted online pricing will be available until the start of the match.
WVU students are admitted for free with a valid WVU Student I.D.
