
Gray Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a highly-productive week at the plate, junior second baseman Kyle Gray of the WVU baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Gray hit four home runs and tallied nine RBIs as part of his 10 total hits in four games last week. The Blanco, Texas, native hit .588 for the week, led the Big 12 in nearly every hitting category and extended his career-long hit streak to 22 games, the longest by a Mountaineer since 2009.
Gray had at least two hits, an RBI and a run scored in every game last week and hit four home runs in WVU's three-game series at Kansas. His week was highlighted by a career-high-tying four hits and four RBIs with four runs scored on May 4 at KU, and he hit the first of four homers on the weekend. The next day, he hit a career-high-tying two home runs with three RBIs before closing the week with another two-hit day with his fourth homer in three days.
On the year, the junior is hitting .361 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs. Gray owns 57 hits on the year, 37 runs scored, 10 doubles and nine stolen bases.
Gray and the Mountaineers host Virginia Tech on Wednesday, May 9, at Monongalia County Ballpark, before they travel to TCU for a Big 12 three-game weekend series, from May 11-13, in Fort Worth, Texas.
