Bullock placed 40th overall in the event, earning a time of 1:58.44 in preliminaries. The Zeeland, Michigan, native claimed fourth place in her heat and moved up 10 spots from her seed time going into the event.
"Morgan had a great first swim today," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "She swam her fastest prelim time, raced well and moved up 10 spots. Considering this is her first NCAAs, she handled the situation very well."
Bullock continues her NCAA Championships on Friday in the 100 butterfly. Additionally, junior Emma Harris is set to make her meet debut on Friday in the 100 breaststroke. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET, at the Ohio State University's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, with the finals session set for 5 p.m.
The two Mountaineers close the NCAA Championships on Saturday as Bullock competes in the 200 butterfly, where she ranks No. 13 nationally, while Harris swims in the 200 breaststroke. Both hold the WVU school records in their respective events on Saturday.
Friday's finals session will be broadcasted on ESPNU, with ESPN3 providing a live stream of Saturday's finals. OhioStateBuckeyes.com will provide live video coverage of Friday and Saturday's preliminary sessions.
