Pardee Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After scoring her 1,000th career point against Missouri on Dec. 2, senior guard Katrina Pardee of the West Virginia University women's basketball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Pardee became the 35th Mountaineer to join the 1,000-points club after her 3-pointer in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Tigers. The Cedar Park, Texas, native needed seven points entering the contest, and she came away with exactly seven on the day. Additionally, she grabbed seven rebounds and added two assists and a steal.
Pardee joins redshirt junior guard Tynice Martin as current WVU players with at least 1,000 career points.
The 3-pointer helped Pardee to climb the record books in another category as well. The triple was the 189th 3-point make of her career, moving her into a tie for eighth place all-time. She shares the spot with Bria Holmes (2013-16).
Pardee and the Mountaineers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 8, when they travel to Pitt for a Backyard Brawl matchup against the Panthers.

Last Week in Rifle: Senior Ginny Thrasher, junior Morgan Phillips and sophomore Sarah Osborn competed at the 2018 USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championships, Nov. 30 – Dec. 1, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado … Thrasher finished fourth overall in the all-age women's division with a two-day score of 1252.1, while Osborn placed fourth in the junior women's division with a two-day mark of 1246.7 … Thrasher qualified for the second day's final with a score of 1248.6 (621.4, 627.2) and placed second with a score of 248.9, earning 3.5 extra points … Osborn qualified for the junior final with a 1243.7 score and finished third with a 227.0 total, earning 3.0 extra points … Phillips finished 17th in the junior division and 30th in the all-age group, with a two-day score of 1231.3.
