MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The West Virginia University tennis team will travel to Buffalo, New York, to take on Buffalo on Saturday, February 11.
“We are expecting a similar situation to what we had against Akron,” said fourth-year coach Miha Lisac. “They are a team that comes to battle and comes to play. They have had a solid program for a while.”
Friday will mark the first time since 2013 that WVU will take on the Bulls. The all-time series between the two is tied at two match wins a piece. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET, at the Miller Tennis Center in Buffalo, New York.
West Virginia enters the match with a 2-4 record after splitting matches against VCU and William & Mary last weekend. Junior Habiba Shaker leads the Mountaineers with a 4-2 record in singles play, while the tandem of Yvon Martinez and Paula Goetz heads into the match with a 4-2 doubles record this season.
Buffalo comes into the weekend with a 1-0 record after sweeping St. Bonaventure, 7-0, on Feb. 3. UB was able to win all nine singles and doubles matches against the Bonnies. The Bulls will host Detroit on Friday in the first match of their homestand.
