Choo Leads WVU on Last Day at FSU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team concluded the fall season on Sunday, at the FSU All-Conference Showdown in Tallahassee, Florida.
Lyn Yuen Choo led the Mountaineers on the final day of the tournament, picking up a third-place finish in the Speicher Draw with a win over Emilia Granstrom of Central Florida, 6-1 and 6-2. The win gave Choo her 50th career singles victory.
Giovanna Caputo won in the fifth-place match of the Speicher Draw besting Troy's Nancy Karaky in three sets, 6-1, 5-7 and 6-0.
Christina Jordan fell in the finals of the Spear Draw to Florida State's Ariana Rahmanparast, 6-1 and 6-2, to take second place.
Wisconsin's Michelle Linden bested Anne-Sophie Courteau, 6-4 and 6-2, in the seventh-place match of the Seminole Draw. In the Osceola Draw, Paula Goetz retired in the finals due to injury.
"Overall, we progressed from the beginning of the fall semester and taken steps in the right direction," coach Miha Lisac said. "We are looking forward to the start of the spring season in February."
This fall, Choo led the Mountaineers with a 11-4 singles record. Goetz ranked second on the team, going 10-5 in singles play. Choo also has a team-high nine victories in doubles, while Giovanna Caputo placed second on the team with seven wins. Choo maintained a record of 20-11 in the fall.
