MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s swimming and diving team heads to Ames, Iowa, to compete against Big 12 foe Iowa State on Saturday, Jan. 21, at noon ET.
The WVU women (4-4, 1-0) compete in their second Big 12 meet this season on Saturday at Beyer Pool, after beating TCU last weekend. The Mountaineer men (3-4, 1-0) are idle this weekend.
Live results for swimming events will be available at public.iastate.edu, and live stats for diving can be found at cleanentries.com. Fans can also follow @WVUSwimDive for additional updates.
“I am looking forward to seeing how the women respond to another tough challenge on the road,” said coach Vic Riggs. “They had a very strong meet last week, and they'll need to be as strong or stronger against ISU to come away with a win.”
ISU holds a dual meet record of 1-3-1 and a Big 12 record of 0-0-1. The Cyclones are coming off a 114-186 loss against Illinois. On Nov. 4, ISU tied TCU, 150-150.
Last year against the Cyclones, the Mountaineer women were in a tight battle throughout the meet but ISU pulled away in the final event, winning 158-141.
The Mountaineers are coming off a Senior Day victory against TCU on Jan. 14 at the WVU Natatorium. The WVU women earned their first dual meet win over a Big 12 team since joining the league in 2012-13, besting TCU, 210-90. The men were equally as dominant, posting a 194-106 victory, beating the Horned Frogs for the fourth consecutive year.
The WVU women won 15 of 16 events. The women earned four 1-2-3 finishes, with senior Emma Skelley and freshman Morgan Bullock leading the Mountaineers with three individual wins apiece. Junior Amelie Currat, sophomores Julia Calcut and Emma Harris each earned two individual wins.
Up next, the men and women return to the road for a pair of races at Bucknell and Villanova. WVU faces Bucknell on Friday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m. ET, before traveling to Villanova the following day for a 1 p.m. ET matchup.
