MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia, to compete in the 24th Annual William & Mary Tribe Invitational from September 16-18.
“We are looking forward to traveling to Williamsburg, Virginia this weekend for an opening weekend tournament,” fourth-year coach Miha Lisac said. “Our goals are to progress as a team and individually, and translate the work that we have been doing in practices to tournament play.”
The William & Mary Tribe Invitational consists of eight teams: Dartmouth, Liberty, Marshall, Maryland, Old Dominion, Penn, William & Mary and West Virginia, all will play three singles and three doubles matches over the weekend.
“Fall tournaments are an important part of our preparation as they gear us up for competition as well as prepare for the start of spring season in January,” coach Miha Lisac said.
The teams will compete at three different locations in the Williamsburg area, the Millie West Tennis Center, the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center and the Commons Tennis Courts.
The Mountaineers are slated to open the weekend on Friday, at 9:30 a.m. ET, in a doubles match against Liberty. WVU will then complete the day with a singles match against Dartmouth.
On Saturday, West Virginia will open the day at 9:30 a.m., with a doubles match against in-state rival Marshall, followed by a singles match against Maryland at 11 a.m.
WVU will finish day two by facing Old Dominion in a doubles match at 3 p.m.
The Mountaineers will close out the tournament with a singles match at 9 a.m., on Sunday against Liberty before returning to Morgantown.
The William & Mary Tribe Invitational is the first of four fall tournaments for the Mountaineers.
