Shaker Advances to Main Draw Second Round

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Junior Habiba Shaker advanced to the second round of the singles main draw at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Saturday in Norfolk, Virginia.
Shaker defeated Liberty’s Anna Dollar in two sets, 6-4 and 6-2, to advance to the second round of the tournament.
“I thought Habiba did a good job today staying solid in her match,” fourth-year coach Miha Lisac said. “It was one of those matches that can turn quickly, but Habiba handled the situation well and stayed on top of her game throughout.”
Shaker will be back in action on Sunday in the second round of the singles main draw as she takes on Virginia’s Rosie Johanson. The match is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. ET, on the indoor courts of the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Johanson bested Penn State’s Dasha Sapagova in the first round of the tournament, 6-2 and 6-1.
