MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As part of a contest held during the 2014 season, the West Virginia University women’s soccer team held a special one-hour clinic for the Marion County Youth Soccer Association U-10 boys and girls team on April 27, at Dreamswork Field.
The MCYSA U-10 team won the clinic with coach Nikki Izzo-Brown and the Mountaineers in October, as the squad was the best represented youth team at WVU’s 4-2 win against Texas Tech on Oct. 10, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
During the clinic, the youth players interacted with the WVU student-athletes, participating in a question and answer session, as well as enjoying a quick scrimmage. The clinic concluded with autographs from the Mountaineers.
“Everyone had a fun time at the clinic – this was a great prize for the awesome support we received from the Marion County Youth Soccer Association in the fall,” said assistant coach Marisa Kanela. “I think the youth players’ favorite part of the day was playing the game they love with their role models.”
The next one-hour clinic will be up for grabs at an upcoming home match in the 2015 season. Details will be announced at a later date.
