Cramer Named Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Sophomore first baseman Jackson Cramer has been named the Varsity Sports Report Athlete of the Week for his performance in a win against No. 11 Oklahoma State last weekend.
Cramer led the Mountaineers in a 5-4 victory in the series opener on Friday night, scoring the first run of the game and then driving in the game-winning run. Cramer hit his first career triple with one out in the fourth inning and then scored to give WVU a 1-0 lead on a triple to center field by freshman designated hitter Kyle Davis.
Friday’s game was then suspended with the game tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second for the Mountaineers and Cramer at the plate. When play resumed, Cramer laced a double off the right field wall to easily score sophomore catcher Ray Guerrini for the game-winning run. Cramer finished with two hits, two runs, one RBI, one double, one triple and one walk to lead the Mountaineers at the plate.

This Week in Baseball: West Virginia returns home to Monongalia County Ballpark for four games to close out the regular season, beginning with a midweek matchup against Pitt on Tuesday, May 12, at 6 p.m … the Mountaineers then host Texas Tech from May 14-16 in the final series of the year … the games on Thursday and Friday will start at 6 p.m., while Saturday’s first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
Last Week In Baseball: The Mountaineers went 1-1 last week … West Virginia fell 13-3 at Virginia Tech on Tuesday and then defeated No. 11 Oklahoma State, 5-4, on Friday … the Oklahoma State series was cut short by two games due to weather and Friday’s game was finished on Saturday morning after being suspended in the ninth inning on Friday night.
