MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A program-best eight members of the West Virginia University rifle team were named to the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Academic Team.
“It's wonderful to see so many of the team members receive an academic honor,” said coach Jon Hammond. “This team is among the best teams we have had academically, and given their athletic success, it says a lot about their dedication and work ethic. I'm really proud of them and this achievement."
Seniors Meelis Kiisk and Thomas Kyanko earned their fourth career honors, while classmate Maren Prediger earned her third.
Sophomore Jean-Pierre Lucas earned his second honor, and seniors Ziva Dvorsak and Taylor Ciotola, junior Patrick Sunderman and freshman Elizabeth Gratz earned the first honors of their career.
Hammond’s teams have earned 52 CRCA All-Academic honors since his arrival in 2006.
The team earned six honors last year, and the previous record was seven, set in 2013.
