Track Finishes Day One at Penn Relays

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team finished the first day of competition at the 120th edition of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earlier tonight.
This marks the fifth straight year WVU has participated at the Penn Relays.
In Thursday’s high jump, the Mountaineers had two competitors participating. Marsielle McBeam and Hannah Stone placed 29th and 33rd, respectively, in the event with each clearing 1.60 meters.
Savanna Plombon raced to an eighth-place finish in the women’s 5,000-meter run in 16:48.96. The time was just two seconds off Plombon’s career-best time in the event.
The pole vault saw WVU’s Katlyn Shelar finish in a tie for sixth place with a mark of 3.80 meters.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Renee Maisonneuve crossed the line in 20th overall in 10:59.73.
Day two of the Penn Relays gets underway at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
