WVU No. 43 in Current Directors' Cup Standings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University currently stands in 43rd place in the 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup final winter standings.
WVU has compiled 377.50 points to date. The Mountaineers picked up 257.0 points in the latest poll, with the rifle team’s first-place NCAA finish contributing 100 points. Men’s basketball (64 points), wrestling (54 points) and gymnastics (39 points) also counted toward the school’s latest standing.
WVU ranks fifth among Big 12 schools behind Texas at No. 8, Oklahoma at No. 28, Oklahoma State at No. 37 and Iowa State at No. 40, and ahead of Baylor (No. 46), TCU (No. 60), Texas Tech (No. 68), Kansas State (No. 92) and Kansas (No. 95).
Stanford leads all schools with 1,101.50 points, followed by Penn State (859.0), North Carolina (823.50), Wisconsin (748.5) and UCLA (731.25).
WVU has finished in the top 75 in the Directors’ Cup standings for 10 consecutive years, including a school-best 30th-place finish in 2009.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
