MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Incoming West Virginia University women’s soccer defender Vanessa Flores began camp with the Mexican Women’s National U20 Team today, at the High Performance Center of the Mexican Football Federation, in Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR), San Simonito, Mexico.
The camp, which runs until April 18, is the second in as many weeks for the U20 team. The team will focus on technical skills, personal growth and video sessions as it continues to prepare for the World Cup Papua New Guinea 2015.
Following the conclusion of camp, the squad will travel to the United States for matches against the University of Chicago, Michigan and Notre Dame.
Flores, a native of Baytown, Texas, was a member of the Mexican Women’s National U17 Team and captained the 203 national team at the 4 Nations Tournament Costa Rica. She also saw playing time at the 2014 U17 World Cup Costa Rica and was the only member of the squad named to the CONCACAF All-Star Team following the 2013 CONCACAF U17 Championship Jamaica. She has previously attended multiple U20 camps, including one earlier this month.
A six-year member of the Albion Hurricanes FC and a multi-year team captain, Flores captured the 2011 and 2012 state championships with the Hurricanes.
