O’Brien helped the Mountaineers to a three-game series sweep at ETSU, batting 7-for-10 (.700) with six runs, three doubles, five RBIs and three walks. O’Brien led the Big 12 for the week in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles and was ranked fourth in runs scored.

Notes & Quotes: WVU competed at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in its most recent competition ... Brianna Kerekes and Amy Cashin each earned spots on the podium in the 1,000-meter finals ... Kerekes raced to a fifth-place finish in the conference in 2:49.99, while Cashin placed eighth in 2:50.99 ... Kelly Williams crossed the line in seventh place overall in 4:51.12 in the one mile ... freshman Shamoya McNeil earned a spot on the podium in the triple jump ... McNeil jumped 12.06 meters to place eighth in the league.

Last Week in Women’s Basketball: West Virginia (18-14, 7-11 Big 12) went 1-2 on the week .. the Mountaineers closed out Big 12 regular-season action with a 59-55 loss at Kansas State ... as the No. 7-seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, WVU knocked off No. 10-seed Texas Tech 59-40 in the first round before falling 67-55 to No. 2-seed Oklahoma in the quarterfinals.

This Week in Tennis: The Mountaineers (9-3) return to competition on Friday, March 13, as they open Big 12 Conference play against Iowa State in Ames, Iowa ... the match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET … WVU and Iowa State have played just three matches in its program histories, as the Cyclones hold a 3-0 all-time series advantage … West Virginia concluded its 2014 regular season with a 5-2 loss against ISU on April 13 … the Cyclones are 4-7 this season, and are coming off a 4-0 victory against UMKC … sophomore Samantha Budai has tallied five wins at the No. 1 position, and senior Meghan Cassens has won a team-high seven singles matches … senior Ksenia Pronina has teamed up with Budai to go 5-4 at the No. 1 doubles slot.

This Week in Swimming and Diving: The Mountaineer men’s and women’s diving teams compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Buffalo, New York, from March 9-11 ... the men’s swimming team will await for the NCAA qualificaiton announcement on Wednesday, March 11.

Notes & Quotes: A total of 16 West Virginia student-athletes earned All-Big 12 First Team recognition with nine men and seven women garnering the honors ... the Mountaineers competed at the Big 12 Championships in their most recent competition with the men placing third and the women placing fourth ... senior Tim Squires led the men with five All-Big 12 First Team distinctions (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay) ... the fourth-place finish for the women was their best since a second-place finish at the 2013 Big 12 Championships ... Julie Ogden (200-yard butterfly, 100-yard butterfly) and Jenelle Zee (100-yard backstroke, 200-yard medley relay) led the Mountaineer women for two All-Big 12 First Team accolades apiece.
This Week in Rowing: West Virginia opens its 2015 spring slate at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, from March 14-15, for the third consecutive year … the regatta is hosted by Louisville, as the event pulls in approximately 330 collegiate competitors throughout the two days of competition … last season, the Mountaineers participated in 18 races at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, as the team crewed to three second-place finishes in the Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ events on March 15-16.

This Week in Rifle: WVU rifle was idle last week ... the Mountaineers most recently won their conference-best sixth Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) title with a 4709 team score, February 28-March 1, at Mississippi’s Patricia C. Lamar Readiness Center in Oxford, Mississippi.
Last Week in Rifle: The No.1-ranked and back-to-back national champion West Virginia University rifle team (11-1, 8-0 GARC) will compete for their nation-best 17th title at the NCAA Championships, March 13-14, at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range and Patty Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Last Week in Wrestling: The Mountaineers took fourth place at the Big 12 Championship with 35 points ... Zeke Moisey (125), Roman Perryman (149), Jake A. Smith (197) and A.J. Vizcarrondo (HWT) all claimed runner-up finishes, while Bubba Scheffel (184) took fourth.
Notes and Quotes: Saturday marked WVU’s best-ever showing at the Big 12 Championships, with their 35 points topping their previous tallies of 26 points (2014) and 28 points (2012) ... the squad also sent multiple wrestlers in the finals for the first time ever, with A.J. Last Week in Gymnastics: WVU (11-8-1, 0-0-1) scored a season-high 195.9 in a loss to No. 11 Penn State (196.75) at the WVU Coliseum on March 8 … WVU tallied a season-high 49.225 on bars, the seventh-best score in program history, and 48.9 on balance beam … the team also tallied 49.1 on floor and 48.675 on vault … sophomore Alexa Goldberg scored a career-high 9.95 on bars and tied for the event win … senior Dayah Haley tallied 9.925 on floor and finished second, while senior Beth Deal and sophomore Brooklyn Doggette paced on beam and finished fourth with 9.825s … junior Jaida Lawrence scored a team-high 9.775 on vault and finished in fourth place.
