“It’s about action now,” said coach Mike Carey. It’s about what you do on the floor and how you come out and play. Yesterday, we got after it and we’ll get after it again today. It’s about now. I need to see who has heart and who doesn’t have heart.”
The Mountaineers are scoring 68.4 points per game and giving up just 60.3 to the opposition. West Virginia is fifth nationally with 6.7 blocks per game. Individually, Lanay Montgomery’s 3.6 blocked shots each contest is 10th in the NCAA.
Home court has been much friendlier to the Mountaineers, as WVU owns an 11-2 mark at home. After having its 16-game win streak snapped against Baylor, West Virginia has reeled off three straight wins in the Coliseum.
Kansas (13-11, 4-7 Big 12) comes into Tuesday’s contest having lost two out of its last three. The Jayhawks fell 65-57 to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
