250 Named to Fall Big 12 Honor Roll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Big 12 Conference released its 2014 Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a total of 250 West Virginia University student-athletes making the list. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Of the 250 WVU student-athletes recognized by the Big 12 for their academic excellence, 37 registered a GPA of 4.0 in the fall semester.
The 37 Mountaineers named to the list with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the semester include: Jackson Sigman (baseball), Kevin Noreen (men’s basketball), Averee Fields, Dominique Simpson, Linda Stepney (women’s basketball), Darren Arndt, D.J. Carozza (football), Elizabeth Gratz (rifle), Alison Coates, Audrey Geise, Colleen Giesbrecht, Kimberlie May, Louisa Morgan (rowing), Andy Bevin, Ivo Cabral, Jack Elliott, Lee Johnston, Trevor Moon (men’s soccer), Ali Connelly, Leah Emaus, Amanda Hill (women’s soccer), Frank Csonka, Nathan Howells, James Koval, David Palley (men’s swimming & diving), Amelie Currat, Katie Murto, Jennifer Rey, Haily VandePoel, Jenelle Zee (women’s swimming & diving), Amy Cashin, Corinne Kule, Allison Lasnicki, Lydia Martinelli, Kelly Williams (women’s cross country), Hannah Sackett (volleyball) and Tim Wheeling (wrestling).
The football and cross country/track teams led all Mountaineer athletic teams with 33 and 32 honorees, respectively, on the honor roll. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll include rowing (30), men’s soccer (21), baseball (20), women’s swimming & diving (19), men’s swimming & diving (15), women’s soccer (13), gymnastics (13), wrestling (12), rifle (9), men’s basketball (9), women’s basketball (9), women’s tennis (7), volleyball (7) and men’s golf (1).
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those Big 12 student-athletes who recorded a 3.00 or better GPA the previous semester.
More than 2,500 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the Conference’s 18-year tenure.
