Nicholas Wince's Big Day at WVU
February 26, 2015 02:56 PM | General
Five-year-old Nicholas Wince, diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, has wished to be a Mountaineer basketball player. On February 24, he joined his favorite team to tear up the court against the Texas Longhorns.
Nicholas’ official duties as a Mountaineer began at 1 p.m. with a tour of his new digs, followed by a shoot-around with his new teammates. Later that evening, Nicholas was able to cheer on West Virginia to a 71-64 win over the Longhorns.

The most common misconception about Make-A-Wish is that the organization only provides wishes for dying children. To the contrary, Make-A-Wish fulfills wishes for children living with life-threatening medical conditions as well.
Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children, aged 2 ½ to 18, with life-threatening medical conditions. Currently, the local chapter is one of the most active in the country, having fulfilled more than 16,000 wishes. For more information, visit its Web site at greaterpawv.wish.org.
