Track Completes SPIRE Invite

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the final day of competition at the SPIRE Division I Indoor Track & Field Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, earlier this evening.
After setting a career-best time in the 1,000-meter run on Friday night, Amy Cashin had another impressive performance on Saturday afternoon. Cashin placed 10th in the 800-meter run in a career-best 2:10.53. Brianna Kerekes finished 21st in the event in 2:12.58.
The women’s one mile saw Kelly Williams finish fifth overall in a season-best 4:43.71. Renee Maisonneuve placed 25th in 4:59.71 and Savanna Plombon finished in 30th place with a time of 5:02.43.
In the 3,000-meter run, Brynn Harshbarger took 10th place with a career-best time of 9:37.76. Maggie Drazba finished 12th in 9:38.59 and Sydney Scott placed 17th in 9:43.34.
Rachel Faulds crossed the line in seventh place overall in the 3,000-meter run. Faulds recorded a career-best time of 10:08.13 in the event.
In the high jump, Marsielle McBeam jumped 1.63 meters to finish in a tie for ninth overall. Hannah Stone placed 18th in the event with a jump of 1.58 meters.
Shamoya McNeil finished ninth in the triple jump, leaping 11.93 meters.
In the pole vault, Katlyn Shelar placed 13th with a vault of 3.80 meters.
West Virginia returns home to host its final home meet of the season next Saturday, Feb. 21. The Gold/Blue Open begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, and is the final meet of the indoor season prior to the Big 12 Indoor Championship.
