Rifle Ends Regular Season at No. 1

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The West Virginia University rifle team enters the postseason ranked No. 1 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll.
Today's rankings are based on the three highest scores shot by each team in three different ranges.
The Mountaineers boast a 4713.33 average and shot their three highest scores at the WVU Rifle Range vs. Memphis (4718) on November 8, at Army (4717) on November 16 and at Alaska-Fairbanks (4705) on February 1.
Alaska-Fairbanks and TCU remain No. 2 (4705.33 avg.) and No. 3 (4687.33 avg.), respectively.
Jacksonville State remains No. 4 (4684.67 avg.), and Kentucky remains No. 5 (4684.33 avg.).
Air Force, Nebraska, Murray State, Ohio State and Memphis complete the Top 10 this week.
The Mountaineers (11-1, 8-0 GARC) most recently defeated UK, trumping the Wildcats, 4677-4663, for the regular-season Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) title, February 7, in Lexington, Kentucky. WVU will shoot an NCAA qualifying match on February 21 at the WVU Rifle Range.
