McBeam Leads Track at YSU College Invite

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Marsielle McBeam’s first-place finish highlighted action for the West Virginia University track and field team earlier tonight at the YSU College Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio.
In her first appearance of the season, McBeam finished first in the high jump, recording a jump of 1.70 meters – her best since the 2014 Big 12 Outdoor Championships.
For the second time in six days, Katlyn Shelar claimed first in the pole vault. Shelar’s vault of 3.90 meters was her second-best mark of the season. Tori Bertrand placed fifth in the event, vaulting 3.35 meters.
The triple jump saw freshman Shamoya McNeil place second overall. McNeil recorded her second-best jump as a Mountaineer, leaping 11.25 meters.
In the one mile, Renee Maisonneuve crossed the line first in a career-best 5:04.03. Also in the event, Shannen Daly placed 13th in a personal-best 5:21.85, Lydia Martinelli finished 16th in a personal-best 5:26.81 and Allie Diehl finished 17th in 5:28.19.
Christa D’Egidio finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 58.40, while Meghan Jean-Baptiste finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.02 seconds.
The Mountaineers return to action next weekend at the Thundering Herd Open from Jan. 30-31 in Huntington, W.Va.
