MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Ames, Iowa, for a dual meet with Big 12 foe Iowa State on Saturday, Jan. 24, at noon, ET.
“This is the third of four meets in four weeks,” said coach Vic Riggs. “This is definitely going to be the toughest test yet.”
The Mountaineer women narrowly fell to TCU last Friday in dual-meet action, 155-145. Senior diver Jenn Rey set a school record against the Horned Frogs on the 1-meter board with a score of 292.27.
Other notable performances saw Jaimee Gillmore sweep the women’s 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, Emma Skelley touch the wall first in the women’s 1,000-yard freestyle and Amelie Currat place first in the women’s 200-yard backstroke.
“This is a very strong ISU team and it’s on the road,” Riggs said. “If we can continue the improvements from last weekend and have some people step up in different roles, it should make for a great meet.”
The men’s swimming team will be off from competition this weekend and return to action next Friday, Jan. 30, at Ohio State.
