Holmes Named to Wooden Midseason List

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University junior guard Bria Holmes was named to the John R. Wooden Award Women’s Basketball Midseason Top 20 list, as announced by the organization today.

Holmes, the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, ranks second in the league with 21.0 points per game. Her point total is 17th nationally. The New Haven, Connecticut native has etched 1,053 career points, which sits 29th all-time at WVU. The standout guard is on two other award watch lists, which includes the Wade Watch List and Naismith Award Top 50.
Baylor’s Nina Davis and Texas’ Nenka Enemkpali round out representatives from the Big 12. The list is chosen by a poll of national college women’s college basketball media members.
The 39th annual Wooden Award ceremony will honor the Men's and Women's Wooden Award winners, and will include the presentation of the Wooden Award All American Teams and the Legends of Coaching Award, which in 2015 will go to San Diego State Head Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Fisher. The event will take place the weekend of April 10-12, 2015.
