Rifle Begins Spring Semester No. 1

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The West Virginia University rifle team returns for spring semester competition this week ranked No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
Today's rankings are based on the three highest scores shot by each team in different locations.
The Mountaineers boast a 4710 average and shot their three highest scores at home vs. Memphis (4718), at Army (4717) and at Ohio State and Akron (4695).
Alaska-Fairbanks comes in at No. 2 on this week’s poll with a 4691.33 average.
Jacksonville State and TCU follow in the No. 3 and 4 spots with 4678 and 4676, respectively, and Air Force ranks No. 5 with a 4674.67 average.
Kentucky, Nebraska, Murray State, Memphis and Ohio State complete the Top 10.
The Mountaineers (8-0, 6-0 GARC) open spring competition Saturday, Jan. 17, against Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) foe, No. 7 Nebraska.
