Shelar Paces Track at PSU Relays

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Katlyn Shelar posted a second-place finish in the pole vault, leading the West Virginia University track & field team today at the PSU Relays in State College, Pennsylvania.
Shelar’s vault of 3.82 meters was a season-best mark and her best since the Big 12 Indoor Championships a season ago (3.95 meters), helping her to a second place finish. Tori Bertrand placed seven in the event with a vault of 3.52 meters.
In the one mile, senior Shannen Daly and sophomore Allie Diehl posted personal-best times. Daly finished 13th overall in 5:23.13, improving on her previous best mark in the event of 5:30.06. Diehl placed 16th in 5:28.09, cutting nearly seven seconds off her previous best time.
The Mountaineer distance medley relay team of Kelly Williams, Brianna Kerekes, Renee Maisonneuve and Sydney Scott crossed the line in third with a time of 12:02.85.
In the high jump, Hannah Stone placed 12th with a jump of 1.57 meters.
The Mountaineers will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 17, with the WVU Invitational at the WVU Shell Building.
