MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball’s Jordan Anderson has been selected as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for matches played September 8-14, as announced by the league on Monday.
A three-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week honoree in 2014, it marks the first time in her career Anderson has garnered offensive player of the week honors.
The Flower Mound, Texas, native led the Mountaineers and the Big 12 in kills per set this past weekend with an average of 4.86. She also led the league with 5.43 points per set and averaged 2.43 digs over the course of the Mountaineer Invitational, helping WVU go 4-0 to win the tournament.
Anderson paced the squad in its 3-1 win over Kent State, putting up a team-best 19 kills and adding nine digs. She repeated her feat of 19 kills in a 3-0 win against Seton Hall, digging 13 balls for her third double double of the season and hitting for a .436 clip. The sophomore outside hitter had 18 kills and an ace in a 3-1 win versus Saint Francis and finished out the weekend with 12 kills, two solo blocks and a pair of block assists in a 3-0 triumph of Montana.
For her efforts, Anderson earned the Mountaineer Invitational MVP award, marking the second straight weekend she has been named a tournament MVP.
The Mountaineers head to North Carolina for a pair of matches this week. They travel to Durham, North Carolina, on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. tilt with No. 20 Duke before facing No. 17 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Saturday at 6 p.m. WVU enters the road swing on a 10-match win streak with a 10-1 overall record.
