MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In preparation for Saturday’s meeting between West Virginia University and No. 4 Oklahoma, the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced a parking adjustment for Blue Lot parking pass holders in order to better accommodate fans’ game day experience.
Blue Lot vehicle permit holders will now be able to enjoy open parking from 7 a.m. until four hours before game time. Previously, there were multiple open parking times depending on game time. Now, the standard will be open parking in the Blue Lot until four hours prior to game time. Cars will then be flagged into open parking spots after the cutoff for the remainder of all home football games, with the exception of the Thursday night Kansas State game.
“As we said before the season, managing the changes and new configuration in the Blue Lot is going to be a work in progress this year,” said WVU Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Matt Wells. “Based on what we saw at the Towson game and the feedback we received from Mountaineer fans with Blue Lot passes before and after the game, we decided it was appropriate to adjust the window of time open parking is available to fans. We appreciate our fans’ patience and understanding as we continue to work on the best way to manage the Blue Lot on game days. We will continue to monitor the situation as the season progresses.”
WVU’s Big 12 Conference football opener against the Sooners, presented by the West Virginia Lottery, on Saturday is the ‘Stripe the Stadium’ game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium, and the game will be televised on Fox.
Fans sitting in even-numbered sections (Sec. 102, 104, 202, 204, etc.), Touchdown Terrace and WVU students seated in the upper level student sections are encouraged to wear GOLD to the game.
Conversely, fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear BLUE to the game.
