McBroom on Golden Spikes Award Watch List

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior first baseman Ryan McBroom has been named to the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award 50-man midseason watch list.

The watch list features the nation’s top players, and will be a “rolling” list until May 27 – when the Golden Spikes Award semifinalists are announced.

McBroom is one of four Big 12 representatives, as he is joined by Brandon Finnegan (TCU), Ross Kivett (Kansas State) and Mark Payton (Texas).

McBroom is leading WVU with six home runs and 33 RBIs, while batting .343. In the Big 12 rankings, McBroom is tied for No. 1 in home runs, tied for No. 2 in RBIs, No. 4 in slugging percentage (.556), No. 9 in total bases (60) and No. 9 in batting average.
