Rowers Named to Conference USA Honor Roll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Thirty-two members of the West Virginia University rowing team have been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, announced today by the league office.
Mountaineers named to the Honor Roll include: Allison Arnold, Alexandra Basil, Whitney Chrisman, Alison Coates, Rachel Cokeley, Lisa Deklau, Emily Deming, Sarah Dodd, Elizabeth Duarte, Addie Dulaney, Kaitlyn Eason, Mallory Fisher, Susannah Hartlove, Jessica Hurlbert, Madison James, Elizabeth Kantak, Kelly Kramer, Morgan Leach, Caitlin Madamba, Christina Mehrtens, Louisa Morgan, Caroline Mullins, Hannah Onians, Allyson Pytlak, Tamyra Roberts, Mollie Rosen, Bethany Sapen, Courtney Schrand, Melinda Sharon, Summer Socha, Karen Verwey and Kendra Welker.
A record 3,224 student-athletes have earned recognition to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll during the 2013-14 academic year. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.
Rice placed the highest number of student-athletes on the honor roll, producing 235 members who participate in conference-sponsored sports. Tulsa followed closely with 228, while East Carolina ranked third with 195 student-athletes on the list.
Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner’s Academic Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow.
The Mountaineers have been an affiliate of C-USA since beginning Big 12 competition in 2012-13. Due to C-USA’s automatic bid to compete at the NCAA Championships, several programs from the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference have joined the conference as affiliate members.
WVU takes to the water next at the Knecht Cup Regatta in West Windsor, N.J., from April 12-13.
