MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia women’s basketball team moves up to No. 11 in this week’s Associated Press poll.
The Mountaineers, who were ranked No. 13 last week, went 2-0 last week in Big 12 play, defeating No. 12/12 Oklahoma State 77-45 at the WVU Coliseum on Wednesday, and taking a 61-40 win from Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., on Saturday.
With a 24-3 overall record and a 13-2 mark in Big 12 play, WVU has the fewest losses of any team outside the top 10 and has the same or fewer losses than the five teams in front of it.
The last time WVU was ranked in the top 10 was a No. 8 ranking on Jan. 24, 2011. The highest-ever ranking in program history was No. 6 on Dec. 20, 2010 and it remained there for four consecutive weeks. That season, WVU also had five seniors.
