MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A final swim in the 100-yard backstroke by junior Andrew Marsh highlighted day two of the AT&T Winter National Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the West Virginia swimming teams.
After qualifying for the A final in the men’s 100-yard backstroke, junior swimmer Andrew Marsh, the reigning Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week, placed fifth overall with a season-best time of 46.58.
“It was a really strong day for Andrew,” said coach Vic Riggs. “The 100 fly and 100 back double is very hard, and he did a great job with it.
“His time in the 100 back is currently in the top 10 in the nation and should put him in a great spot for making NCAAs."
In the B final of the men’s 100-yard butterfly, Marsh took third place in 47.49 to finish 11th overall in the event.
Marsh qualified for the A final in the 100 back after placing fourth in the prelims with a then-season-best mark of 46.87. Marsh had a strong prelim performance in the 100 fly, qualifying for the B final with a time of 47.49
