MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Andy Bevin of the West Virginia University men’s soccer team has been named to the NSCAA Scholar All-American First Team, the organization announced today.
Bevin was named to the first team for the second time in his career with a 3.93 GPA in management information systems. Yesterday, Bevin was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region First Team.
“I’m beginning to sound redundant, but Andy is arguably one of the most decorated student-athletes in WVU history,” coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “The amount of postseason honors that he has received proves that.”
Previously, he was invited to the adidas MLS Combine, named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American, the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, a Capital One Academic All-America First Team selection, a NSCAA All-Great Lakes First Team honoree, the MAC Player of the Year, a member of the All-MAC First Team and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Men’s Soccer Team.
Additionally, Bevin also was named to the ECAC Men’s Soccer All-Star Second Team. He was previously named the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2011.
A native of Napier, New Zealand, Bevin finished 2014 with the team lead in goals (13), assists (8) and points (34). He finished with the conference lead in points, while ranking No. 2 in goals and No. 2 in assists.
WVU finished the season with an 11-7-1 record and a second-place finish in the MAC. LeBlanc was named the MAC Coach of the Year, while Bevin was named the MAC Player of the Year and freshman Joey Piatczyc was named the MAC Freshman of the Year.
