WVU WBB Moves to No. 18 in Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After extending its win streak to six games, the West Virginia University women’s basketball team moved up two spots to No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mountaineers picked up wins over Duquesne (79-60) and IPFW (82-48) last week. Currently, WVU’s 15-game home winning streak ranks fifth in the NCAA. On Monday, WVU climbed one spot to No. 22 in the Associated Press poll.
West Virginia earned 231 votes in the poll, just 50 behind No. 17 Georgia. Three other Big 12 programs are in the poll: No. 3 Texas, No. 9 Baylor and No. 16 Oklahoma State.
West Virginia plays Marshall in the annual Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic on Saturday, Dec. 20, in a 4 p.m. tilt at the Charleston Civic Center. The Mountaineers then close out their nonconference road slate at Ohio State on Monday, Dec. 22, in a 2 p.m. tip-off.
