Women’s Hoops Climbs to No. 22 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team moved up one spot to No. 22 in the latest Associated Press poll released on Monday.
The Mountaineers (8-1) are in the midst of a six-game winning streak. Last week, WVU claimed a 79-60 win over Duquesne and an 82-48 victory over IPFW. West Virginia has won 15 consecutive home games, which ranks fifth in the NCAA.
West Virginia garnered 150 votes for No. 22 and were 74 tallies behind No. 21 Mississippi State. There were three other Big 12 programs represented in the Top 25: No. 3 Texas, No. 9 Baylor and No. 19 Oklahoma State.
West Virginia plays Marshall in the annual Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic on Saturday, Dec. 20, in a 4 p.m. tilt at the Charleston Civic Center. WVU then closes out its nonconference road slate at Ohio State on Monday, Dec. 22, in a 2 p.m. tip-off.
