Portillo Invited to Canada National EXCEL Camp

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer midfielder Carla Portillo has been invited to train at the U18-20 Canada Women’s National EXCEL Camp, set to take place Dec. 14-20, in Toronto, Ontario.

The camp is the Canadian Soccer Association’s first phase of development and identification for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The freshman from Mississauga, Ontario, was previously invited to several Canadian U20 camps and has trained with the National Training Centre. Additionally, she was a member of the 2014 Pre-Regional Exceleration (REX) Program.

Portillo enjoyed a successful first season as a Mountaineer, playing off the bench in 21 of 22 matches and tallying two assists. She was named to the All-Big 12 Newcomer Team in November.
