Track Announces 14-15 Indoor/Outdoor Slates

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Oliver Luck announced today the 2014-15 indoor and outdoor track & field schedules.
The slates are highlighted by three meets inside the WVU Shell Building during the indoor season, including the Marty Pushkin Track Classic to open the season on Dec. 6.
“This season’s indoor and outdoor schedules include some of the country’s top track & field competitions,” said Director of Athletics Oliver Luck. “I’m excited to watch coach Sean Cleary and his student-athletes face these challenges, preparing themselves for the Big 12 and NCAA competitions come season’s end.”
“This year’s schedule is very closely tied to the past 4-5 years in terms of having a progression of meets that will have us prepared for the championship season,” said Cleary. “Indoors, we find ourselves competing on oversized tracks with the goal being to be familiar with what we will see at the Big 12 Championships.”
The Mountaineers will enjoy a four-week break following the season opener on Dec. 6, before participating in eight straight weekends of competition through the Big 12 Indoor Championship set for Feb. 27-28 in Ames, Iowa State. The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place two weeks later on March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
“We have made sure that our team has the opportunity to race in the best meets around the country,” Cleary said. “We will continue to search out the highest levels of competition to better increase the odds of achieving our goals.”
The outdoor season features a trip to the prestigious or 121st Penn Relays for the second straight year. West Virginia will participate in six total outdoor meets, before the Big 12 Outdoor Championships from May 15-17 hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.
The NCAA East Prelims will be held May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Florida, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships will take place at prestigious Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
