The Mountaineers, who have been nationally ranked all season, have recorded three top-five finishes to start a season for the first time since 2009.
At the Greater Louisville Classic last Saturday, three West Virginia underclassmen placed in the top 21, led by sophomore Jillian Forsey’s fifth-place overall finish, completing the 5k course in 16:58.69.
The No. 20 ranking matches WVU’s highest ranking of the season and also ties its best ranking since 2011.
West Virginia will have a week off from competition before traveling to the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, Oct 17.
