Rifle Remains No. 1

The West Virginia University rifle team remains No. 1 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
Alaska-Fairbanks and Kentucky continue to rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in this week’s poll, after being idle last week. Jacksonville State moves up four spots to No. 4 after winning the Ole Miss Invitational on Oct. 6 with a 4676 aggregate score. Murray State moves up five spots to No. 5, having placed second at the invitational with a 4662 score.
Air Force ranks No. 6, climbing one spot from the preseason poll. Memphis debuts at No. 7 this week, while TCU, WVU’s season-opening opponent, drops three spots to No. 8.
Nebraska (No. 9) and Ohio State (No. 10) round out the Top 10, dropping from the No. 4 and 6 spots.
The two-time reigning Mountaineers begin the defense of their nation-best 16th NCAA championship against the Horned Frogs this Sunday, Oct. 12, at the WVU Rifle Range. Competition begins at 9 am.
